HTC Windows Phone 8 roadmap leaks out

HTC is now probably the second-most important Windows Phone 8 manufacturer as Samsung is now mostly focused on Android, and Nokia is Microsoft’s sidekick, and good news is that HTC Windows Phone 8 roadmap has just leaked out.

Starting from the most affordable of the bunch, the HTC Rio will feature a 4-inch WVGA screen and come with a 5-megapixel camera shooting 720p video. The Qualcomm MSM8227, part of the Snapdragon S4 family, is what powers the devices and it works along with 512MB of RAM. Connectivity-wise, the upcoming HTC Rio is expected to come with 14.4Mbps HSPA.

Next up, right in the mid-range is the HTC Accord. The Accord comes with a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD2 display and an 8-megapixel rear snapper capturing 1080p video. The exact silicon is not yet known, but it will be a more capable dual-core processor of the Snapdragon S4 breed with 1GB of RAM. Additionally, you get NFC and 42Mbps HSPA+.

The most exciting device that HTC is bringing to Windows Phone 8 world is the HTC Zenith. The Zenith is said to feature a massive 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, also with an 8-megapixel camera and 42Mbps HSPA+.

HTC working on a Siri-esque app?

A tweet sent out by Taiwan based manufacturer HTC included what appeared to be a dog having a conversation with a Siri-type app. Of course, most canine's are limited in speech to answering who wore number 3 on the New York Yankees, and what part of the house you see when you look up. HTC jokingly reminded dog fans that the back and forth between Rover, Lassie or whatever the dog's name is and the virtual personal assistant is not real.

So what is the point here? Is HTC working on a Dr. Doolittle app? Seriously, though, is there an underlying reason for this tweet or is HTC really working on a virtual personal assistant of its own? It might just be that HTC has thrown us a bone here, so to speak, but we would rather not have to guess at what the manufacturer's intentions are.

HTC One S Faster GPS Now Available

This isn’t a largely widespread complaint but when something can be improved the Android dev community will never shy from a challenge.

Thanks to senior XDA member, MacroHD,  we now have a flashable fix for you rooted users and has been proven to speed up the phone’s GPS lock.  Simply download the file that pertains to the country you have service in and flash that zip through your custom recovery. One thing should be mentioned, though. MacroHD says that the fix will not be instantaneous because your device needs to redownload new A-GPS data. You can either flash the fix while you have a data connection and be patient for the device to update itself, or you can simply download the new A-GPS data yourself. To do this you will just need to grab the GPS Status app from the Play Store and use that to manually install the A-GPS data yourself. Easy enough!

Extended Battery for HTC Droid Incredible - Available Now

HTC Extended Battery For Droid Incredible 4G LTE Available Online Now!
Verizon has not officially announced a launch date for the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, but that hasn’t stopped HTC from going ahead and shipping out some official accessories for the handset. The 2,150m Ah extended battery and extended battery cover, are now available from online retailer and will give the Incredible 4G that extra lasting power most Android devices crave.
Unfortunately, it looks like the extended battery does give the Dinc 4G a little junk in the trunk, but it is sure that it wont bother too many users who don’t mind the trade-off for a few extra hours of battery life. The HTC Droid Inc 4G will ship with a 1,700mAh battery which sounds a little skimpy when compared to its cousin’s 2,000mAh battery found inside the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

HTC Legend Android with Full Specs

As HTC continues to churn out more Android-powered devices, the lines them begin to blur a little (or is that MOTOBLUR a little, har har). Witness: the newest of the middle-of-the-range Androiders, with its now very recognizable hard-edged metal(ish) design avec the still-there (but barely) chin. Its clean, simple and looks like something that could be dropped a few times before showing any signs of it. It is also something that could disappear quickly into a crowd.

HTC Bootloader on Devices including HTC DROID

HTC reached back more than two years to add to the list of its handsets that can now have the bootloader unlocked. For example, one of the devices on the list is the HTC DROID ERIS. How many of you remember that handset, which was launched via Verizon at the same time as the Motorola DROID? Other phones that you can now unlock the bootloader on include another old-timer, the HTC Hero. The list also has the HTC Legend, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and the T-Mobile myTouch 4G. It should be pointed out that the variant of the Hero included is the GSM model and to unlock that model's bootloader, you might be required to flash a new RUU.

Unlocking the bootloader makes it easier for you to customize the software on your device, but at the same time it voids the warranty on the phone. if you are going to unlock the bootloader on your unit, make sure you know exactly what you are doing. To get started, head over to the sourcelink, select your device and click on the "Begin Unlock Bootloader" button.
